9 Day Eco Friendly Kilimanjaro Trek Machame Route
DAYS
Day 1: Arrival in Tanzania
- Arrival: Land at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) and transfer to Charming Eco Homes.
- Evening: Settle into your eco-friendly accommodation, enjoy a delicious organic dinner, and relax.
- Overnight: Charming Eco Homes.
- Morning: After breakfast, transfer to Arusha National Park (45 minutes).
- Activities:
- Guided walking safari through the forest and savannah, spotting giraffes, zebras, buffalo, and more.
- Visit Ngurdoto Crater for panoramic views and wildlife spotting.
- Optional canoe safari at Momella Lakes with views of flamingos and Mount Meru.
- Lunch: Enjoy a picnic lunch inside the park.
- Afternoon: Continue light hikes to acclimatize and prepare for the climb.
- Evening: Return to Charming Eco Homes for dinner.
- Overnight: Charming Eco Homes.
- Elevation: 1,800m to 2,835m
- Trekking Time: 5–7 hours
- Activities: Begin trekking through a lush rainforest, enjoying scenic views and wildlife.
- Overnight: Machame Camp.
- Elevation: 2,835m to 3,750m
- Trekking Time: 5–6 hours
- Activities: Ascend into the moorland zone with stunning views of Kibo Peak.
- Overnight: Shira Camp.
- Elevation: 3,750m to 4,630m (Lava Tower) to 3,960m
- Trekking Time: 6–7 hours
- Activities: Hike to Lava Tower for acclimatization before descending to Barranco Camp.
- Overnight: Barranco Camp.
- Elevation: 3,960m to 4,035m
- Trekking Time: 4–5 hours
- Activities: Climb the famous Barranco Wall, then trek to Karanga Camp.
- Overnight: Karanga Camp.
- Elevation: 4,035m to 4,673m
- Trekking Time: 4–5 hours
- Activities: Ascend to Barafu Camp and prepare for the summit push.
- Overnight: Barafu Camp.
- Elevation: 4,673m to 5,895m (Uhuru Peak) to 3,068m
- Trekking Time: 12–14 hours
- Activities: Midnight ascent to Uhuru Peak, then descend to Mweka Camp.
- Overnight: Mweka Camp.
- Elevation: 3,068m to 1,640m
- Trekking Time: 3–4 hours
- Activities: Descend through the rainforest to Mweka Gate.
- Afternoon: Transfer to Charming Eco Homes for lunch and a day room.
- Evening: Transfer to the airport for departure.
