Serengeti National Park stands as the most iconic destination for a Tanzania safari. Located in northern Tanzania, it borders Kenya’s Masai Mara Game Reserve. Together, the Serengeti–Masai Mara ecosystem forms one of the world’s oldest and most intact wildlife regions. As a result, it supports a huge variety of species found almost nowhere else.

During the dry months of June to October, animals gather around shrinking water sources, which makes sightings consistent and rewarding. In contrast, the green season delivers lush grass and bright skies, creating ideal conditions for photographers. Since every season offers a unique experience, the Serengeti remains a truly year-round safari destination.
How to Get There
Travelers can reach the Serengeti by air or by road. Several flights operate from Dar es Salaam, Arusha, and Kilimanjaro International Airport to airstrips such as Seronera, Kogatende, and Ndutu. Daily scheduled services make the journey convenient, while charter flights provide extra flexibility for guests who prefer private travel.
Driving is another practical option. The journey from Arusha to central Serengeti takes about six hours and passes through open landscapes and Maasai communities. A second route starts in Mwanza, a city near Lake Victoria, and leads toward the park’s western corridor. Visitors traveling from Kenya can cross through the Isebania or Sirari border posts and continue for roughly three hours before entering the Serengeti. With multiple travel options available, reaching the park is straightforward for most itineraries.
